Paperwing’s editor runs entirely in your browser and keeps working when you go offline. Open it once while online, and from then on you can edit PDFs on a plane, on a train or on a secure network without internet.

How to edit a PDF offline

  1. Open this page once while you are online.
  2. Choose a PDF, even with the internet switched off.
  3. Change existing text, add text and images, white out or highlight.
  4. Save and download the edited PDF.

How it works offline

The first visit stores the editor and its PDF engine in your browser’s offline storage. After that, the page loads and works with no connection, in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. In Chrome and Edge you can install it as an app with its own window and open PDFs from your computer directly in it.

What you can do

  • Change the existing text on a page, with the old words really removed.
  • Add text in any language, including Arabic and Hindi.
  • Add images, logos and stamps.
  • White out content and highlight passages.
  • Use the other 44 tools offline too: merge, compress, sign, protect and more.

Why offline matters

Offline editing means your document can’t be uploaded, by design. It also means no waiting for uploads and downloads on slow connections, and no daily limits.

Why Paperwing

  • Private by design
  • No queues, no waiting
  • Chain your tools
  • Works offline, installs as an app

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to install anything?

No. It is a web page. Installing it as an app is optional.

Does OCR work offline?

Yes, after you have used a language once, since its 2 MB language data is then stored.

Which tools need internet?

None after the first visit. The only exception is Translate, which needs your browser to download a language pack the first time you use a language pair.
