ISO gap assessment tool
Bates numbering usually needs paid PDF software. Paperwing does it free in your browser, across as many files as you need, without uploading privileged documents anywhere.
How to add Bates numbers for free
- Choose your PDFs in production order.
- Set the prefix, first number, digits and optional suffix.
- Pick the position, usually bottom right.
- Click Add Bates numbers and download the numbered files.
Numbering across files
Each file continues where the previous one ended, so a production of several documents gets one unbroken sequence, for example ABC000001 to ABC000357.
Confidentiality
Legal documents are often privileged or confidential. Because Paperwing stamps the numbers on your own device, nothing is uploaded to a third party.
Tips
- Use a prefix that identifies the party or matter.
- Keep the same number of digits for the whole case.
- Run Compress PDF afterwards if e-filing limits the size.
- Convert to PDF/A if the court requires archival format.
Why Paperwing
- Private by design
- No queues, no waiting
